about

It's late but not too late. My original plan, in 2017, was to release some kind of physical artefact, ideally a DVD, to mark the 10th anniversary of Classwar Karaoke occurring the following year. Music was duly and easily gathered for that release, but the hoped for filmic, pictorial and written contributions were harder to come by, and the project became stalled, as I personally felt, and still feel, that offering an array of, however splendid and interesting, pieces of music is not in fact sufficiently representative of a label which was always about that but also so much more. I confess, I lost impetus, and this was compounded by a house-move and then the fracture of the pandemic and the waiting-game of its lockdowns. So, here we are some six years later, me feeling the onus of what I promised to do, which in truth never waned, but now seems timely enough. I'm committed to that eventual multi-media physical release - and it will happen, and it will be more than worth the wait, for anyone out there still connected to these things as I feel I am myself. Maybe 2027 would be apt for that. The world has moved on from the heady days of netlabels, but, for an extended period, Classwar Karaoke was the best of its kind, and those associated with those efforts deserve celebrating. Until then, more than mere place-holder, the selections on this interim release are set to dazzle and delight, each one a literal gem. Do watch this space, but, until then, do please listen to these wonderful artists.
